Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Grouparty (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit or play on this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. Grouparty is run by Daniel Arenas. If you have any question, write to contact@grouparty.com.
1. Information we collect
You don't need an account to use Grouparty. We only store what the games need to work:
- Nickname: the name you type when you join a room. It is shown to the other people in that room. Please don't use your full real name or any sensitive information as a nickname.
- Game data: the room code, the game settings, and what happens during the game (answers, scores, moves). This is used to run the game and show results.
- Technical data: like most websites, our servers record basic request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) to keep the service running, fix errors and prevent abuse.
We don't ask for your email, phone number, location or payment details, and we don't sell your personal information.
2. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Essential cookies: a session cookie remembers which player you are in a room, so you can reload the page or reconnect without losing your place. The game can't work without it.
- Advertising cookies: set by Google and its partners when ads are shown (see the next section).
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, you won't be able to join a game.
3. Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep Grouparty free, we use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and can change their choice at any time.
4. How we use information
- To create rooms, connect players and run the games in real time.
- To show scores, results and leaderboards to the people in the same room.
- To keep the website secure, find bugs and improve the games.
- To show ads that help pay for the service.
5. How long we keep it
Players who leave a room are removed from it shortly after they disconnect. Room data (room code, settings, nicknames and scores) stays in our database after the game ends, and is only used to run the service. Server logs are used only for security and troubleshooting. You can ask us to delete data related to a room at any time by writing to contact@grouparty.com.
6. Sharing
We don't sell or rent your information. Data is shared only with the service providers that help us run the site (hosting and database providers), with Google for advertising as described above, or when required by law.
7. Children
Grouparty is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Games are often played in family settings; in that case, an adult should host the room. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to how it is used. To make a request, email contact@grouparty.com.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
